Recovery Coaching

Recovery has steps forward and steps back. Your coach helps you build a life that works for you, on your terms and at a pace you set.

Part 1 of 4About

What this looks like

Psychosocial recovery coaching is separate from therapy and does not involve diagnosis or treatment. Sessions focus on daily routines, social connections and life skills that support your wellbeing and independence.

Your recovery coach works with you on practical things like getting out of bed regularly, keeping routines, reconnecting with community, managing appointments and setting goals that make sense for where you are right now.

We take a strengths-based approach. We start with what you can do, what you want to do, and what has worked before. Then we build from there.

Part 2 of 4What we do

What we work on

Practical, strengths-based support for daily life.

  • Daily routines

Building and keeping routines that support your wellbeing, from waking up, eating and hygiene to appointments.

    In practice

"10am and up, four days out of five this month. The morning routine is building itself around that wake-up time. Shower, breakfast, medication, all flowing on from each other. Feels good to have a rhythm. What are you thinking for next month?"

  • Social connection

Rebuilding social connections when isolation has set in, and finding groups, activities and people that feel safe.

    In practice

"Front door to the letterbox. That's today's walk. Fresh air, a stretch, and back inside whenever you're ready. You set the pace. Getting out the door is enough for today."

  • Navigating systems

Helping you deal with Centrelink, housing services, the NDIS, and any other system that is hard to deal with on your own.

    In practice

"Let's sort this out together. I'll sit with you while we call. We'll get your CRN, your ID, and the letter in front of us before we dial. One phone call and I'm right here the whole time."

  • Goal setting

Setting realistic goals that come from you, then linking them to the goals in your plan.

    In practice

"Your plan says 'increase community participation.' What does that look like for you? One thing a week that you enjoy sounds like a great starting point. Let's find something that fits and feels right for this week."

  • Managing appointments

Keeping track of GPs, psychiatrists, therapists, and NDIS meetings. Your coach helps you remember, prepare, and follow up.

    In practice

"Psychiatrist is tomorrow at 2pm. Let's jot down a few things you want to cover so they're ready to go. A card in your pocket with your three points means you walk in feeling prepared and nothing gets forgotten."

  • Wellbeing & self-care

Supporting habits such as sleep, exercise, nutrition and medication routines, and spotting when things are slipping.

    In practice

"You mentioned meals have dropped off a bit this week. You're noticing the pattern yourself, which is the important thing. What would help? I could come by for a cook-up, or we could plan a few easy ones together. Whatever feels manageable."

Part 4 of 4Costs

Cost, eligibility & getting started

Costs, funding and how to start coaching.

What it costs
Recovery coaching is priced under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. What it costs depends on the type of support and whether it happens on a weekday, evening, or weekend. You will always get the cost confirmed in writing before support starts.
Am I eligible?
Recovery coaching sits under Capacity Building, specifically Recovery Coaching and psychosocial recovery support. If your plan includes this funding, it can be used for ongoing, strengths-based recovery support. A support coordinator can check your plan and confirm this for you.

Get Unlocked is based in Thomastown. We work in person across Greater Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria, and with people anywhere in Australia by phone and video.
How to start
  1. Get in touch when you are ready.
