Plan Understanding

Your NDIS plan is meant to work for you, but it does not come with a manual. We help you understand what you have got, what it covers, and how to use it.

Part 1 of 4About

What this looks like

NDIS plans are full of categories, line items, and rules that read like they were written by someone who has never had to use one. Capacity Building, Core Supports, Stated Supports, Flexible Funds, it is a lot.

We sit down with you and go through your plan in plain language. What each line item means, how much you can spend, what is flexible and what is locked, and what happens if you underspend or overspend.

This is ongoing support. As your needs change, your understanding of your plan needs to change with it. We check in regularly and help you adjust how you are using your funding.

Part 2 of 4What we do

What we help with

Plain-language help with decisions about your plan.

  • Plan walk-through

Going through your plan line by line, explaining what each category means and how the funding works in practice.

    In practice

"Core Supports in blue, Capacity Building in green, transport in orange. The blue section is flexible, so money can move between support types within it. The green section ties to specific goals. Once you can see the structure, the whole plan starts making more sense."

  • Funding flexibility

Understanding which parts of your plan are flexible and how to use that flexibility across your funding.

    In practice

"This Core Supports total is more flexible than it looks. Money can move between support worker hours, transport, and consumables within it. That opens up some options you might not have realised you had. Let's walk through what that could look like."

  • Goal alignment

Making sure the services you are using connect to the goals in your plan, so nothing gets flagged at review time.

    In practice

"There's a social participation goal in your plan with funding sitting there ready to use. Getting a community access service running before March means that goal is well supported when review time comes. Want to look at some options?"

  • Budget tracking

Helping you track what you have spent and what is left, and checking you will use your plan fully before it runs out.

    In practice

"Transport funding is sitting at 40% used with five months to go. Good news is there are a couple of ways to make sure that money works for you before the plan rolls over. Let's look at the options together."

  • Service agreements

Reviewing and explaining service agreements from providers so you know exactly what you are signing up for.

    In practice

"Twelve pages, but the important parts are on pages 3 and 7. The cancellation policy is standard. This late-attendance clause is worth a conversation though. We can ask them to adjust it before you sign."

  • Self-management support

If you self-manage, we help you understand invoicing, record-keeping, and using the flexibility self-management gives you.

    In practice

"Invoice in this column, date here, provider here, amount here. The spreadsheet does the maths. $4,200 left in Capacity Building, plan ends in October, so that's about $600 a month to work with. Everything in one place, easy to check anytime."

Part 3 of 4Who it's for

Part 4 of 4Costs

Cost, eligibility & getting started

What it costs, who can use it and how to start.

What it costs
Plan understanding support is priced under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. What it costs depends on the type of support and whether it happens on a weekday, evening, or weekend. You will always get the cost confirmed in writing before we start.
Am I eligible?
Plan understanding support sits under Capacity Building, specifically Support Coordination. If your plan includes Support Coordination funding, it can be used to help you understand and use your plan. A support coordinator can check whether your plan covers this.
Where we work
Get Unlocked is based in Thomastown. We work in person across Greater Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria, and with people anywhere in Australia by phone and video.
How to start
  1. Get in touch and tell us you would like your plan explained.
  2. We have a quick chat about your goals and what is confusing you about your plan.
  3. You are matched with a coordinator and book in your first walk-through session.
